Rev. Andrew Jacob, Pastor

Hanover Presbyterian Church is pleased to announce that the Congregation has called Rev. Andrew W. Jacob as Hanover's pastor. Rev. Jacob has joined us from Cleveland, where for the past several years he served as the Associate Executive Presbyter for Church Transformation and Justice Ministries. His position involved facilitating church transformation and growth, through outreach and justice work. Andy's wife, Nona Holy, also a Presbyterian minister, has, like Andy, been working in the Presbytery of the Western Reserve in northeastern Ohio. They have two boys, Christopher and Jonathan.

Prior to working at the presbytery level Andy was pastor of an inner city Cleveland church for 10 years, and he has come to realize that he is meant to be doing ministry in a church setting. In his search for that setting he wrote, "I have learned that I am a pastor. My call is to serve God's people in a particular community of faith where I walk with fellow seekers in deeper, closer, and ongoing relationships."

Krystal Rickard, Director of Music

Krystal Rickard is an instructor in the University of Delaware's music department, where she also directs two choirs. She has a master's degree from Westminster Choir College, and an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University.

Larry Peterson, Professor of Music, earned his Ph.D. at the University of North Carolina where he was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. He has received awards from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Delaware Heritage Commission and the University of Delaware. He was a member of the university team that developed videodiscs for the teaching of music, a project that has won two national awards. He is the manager of MusDisc Network, an international electronic journal-listserv combination and is one of the six members of the IBM Music Advisory Group. Dr. Peterson won Second Place in the 1991 Masters of Innovation Competition held by Zenith Corporation to recognize outstanding software development.

James Whitely, Youth Leader

Hanover's youth leader, James Whitely, is at work with our youth and parents. James plans and leads with purpose and imagination and fun. An important part of his work is to build leaders among our youth, and our adults as well.

For the past several summers James Whitely has worked with Hanover's own Dr. Katie Leep in the community summer youth program Katie directs here at Hanover. James is quite skilled in working with youth and with adults. James is a senior at Eastern University in St. David's, Pa. His major is youth ministry. He grew up in Wilmington's St. John's Episcopal Church, and was the first African American member of the children's choir. James was nurtured in leadership by Urban Promise. He comes to Hanover highly recommended by Eastern's dean.

Melvin Matthews, Church Sexton

Melvin is the friendly presence at Hanover during the week when the rest of us are absent. He is always lending a hand when we meet that "I don't know where it is or what to" obstacle.
