Our Mission Statement

Hanover Presbyterian Church is a place where people are welcomed and made to feel a part of a community of faith. An environment of acceptance and love is evident in our worship, in our Christian education classes, in our social activities, in the work of our committees and our staff, and especially in our commitment to mission.  The Hanover family is commited to sharing, to reaching out to others, to declaring its faith through mission, to working for peace and understanding and the acceptance of all people.

Hanover provides a welcoming place for worshipping God, that combines tradition with innovation. We value a thoughtful, theological approach to the study of scripture, seeking God's Word in light of current reality. We value the role of music in our worship, with its blend of new and traditional music. We seek to preserve the involvement of lay leadership in our worship experiences and strengthen the participation of youth.

Hanover is strengthened and enriched by the diversity of our members, the differences in age, gender, sexual orientation, race, social and economic status, ethnicity and philosophy. We seek to support all members of our church family, placing a special emphasis on ministering to home-bound and older members, and those who may feel excluded or isolated. We need to emphasize our interest in growth and outreach, within our own community and beyond.

Hanover endeavors to act as God's hands in the community, our neighborhoods, the broader community, and the world. By putting our compassion into action, we strive to continue to support our current mission programs, through stewardship of time, talent, and financial support. We need to be vigilant to achieve the most effective means of reaching those in need, cementing our commitment to love and helping all of God's people.

Hanover offers Christian education that combines pastoral leadership, congregational support, and devotional, educational and social experiences. We help our children and youth grow and flourish through creative programs, Youth Fellowship activities and leadership opportunities. We support outreach activities for children and youth in the surrounding neighborhood.
